FAQs
What is your hourly rate shop minimum?
We have a shop minimum rate of $115 for a new tattoo and $130 for a coverup/rework of someone elses tattoo. After that we do not charge by the hour but by the piece we give quotes based on size, detail, and location.
Do I need ID every time I get new work done?
Yes, every time even if you were just in the day before. We do not require ID on touch ups of tattoos done by the shop.
What sort of ID works?
We require government issue ID no matter your age. If you have photo ID you only need ONE piece of ID. If you have none photo ID, we require 2 pieces of ID. For parents/legal guardians of minors getting work done we require ID for both the parent/legal guardian, as well as the minor.
Photo IDs (These do not have to be Canadian):
Drivers License, Provincial/State ID, Permanent Residency Card, Passport, Status Card, PAL
Non-Photo IDs: Health Card, Birth Certificate
Do I have to be over 18 to get work done?
Without parental/guardian consent you must be over the age of 18. We will work on minors for specific work much younger but we do require a parent or legal guardian to be with the minor at all times.
I want to get my babys ears pierced will you do that?
We firmly believe in sustained consent to do work. This means we will not pierce anyone that cannot or removes consent to be pierced, this means if your child says no even if you are saying yes, we will stop the proceedure.
How do I take care of my Piercing or Tattoo?
Your artist will have gone over aftercare with you, after your appointment, as well as given you an after care sheet. However if you've lost the sheet for your after care here they are:
Tattoo Aftercare
Piercing Aftercare
|I need a tattoo touch up how much do you charge for touch ups?
Unless there is obvious signs of damage/improper care of the tattoo, or you have been informed otherwise due to placement of your tattoo, touch ups are free.
Will you touch up/finish other peoples work?
Under specific circumstances yes, however this sort of work is not free, nor is it discounted. Circumstances can include: Original artist is in another country/no longer tattooing, bad experiences with the artist in question etc. If you are unsure please feel free to reach out to us!
Is there specific tattoo pieces you won't do at the shop?
Rising Phoenix Body Art has always been a very inclusing shop but that inclusiveness has it's limits - if you are coming in asking for hate symbols you will be asked to leave.
Are there piercings you won't do?
Our current piercer will not work with tongues (standard, snake-eyes, double, splitting etc), genital piercings (they have a lot of healing issues because people tend to abuse them so it's easier to just not), and dermals (This is a rejection issue as all dermals eventually reject and we want you to have you piercing for life or until you chose to remove it.
